  • This paper details a software ecosystem comprising three free and open-source Python packages for processing raw ultrafast electron scattering (UES) data and interactively exploring the processed data. The first package, iris, is graphical user-interface program and library for interactive exploration of UES data. Under the hood, iris makes use of npstreams, an extensions of numpy to streaming array-processing, for high-throughput parallel data reduction. Finally, we present scikit-ued, a library of reusable routines and data structures for analysis of UES data, including specialized image processing algorithms, simulation routines, and crystal structure manipulation operations. In this paper, some of the features or all three packages are highlighted, such as parallel data reduction, image registration, interactive exploration. The packages are fully tested and documented and are released under permissive licenses.

5. assessing the economic viability of traditional and organic yerba mate ...

  • 5 uur geleden · ... 2011; Perroni et al., 2024). Notably, the production of organic products has garnered attention from markets, consumers, and researchers ...

  • In response to the growing consumer demand for organic products, this study examines the economic viability of traditional versus organic Yerba Mate (Ilex paraguariensis) cultivation in Paraná State, Brazil. The research uses a robust financial analysis framework to compare production expenses, projected profits, and associated risks over a fifteen-year horizon for a single hectare of land. The analysis employs the multi-index methodology to provide empirical evidence and analytical insights into the economic and risk profiles of both traditional and organic agricultural practices. This study further enhances the evaluation by incorporating the Monte Carlo Method and Crystal Ball software, transforming key financial indicators into stochastic variables. This approach allows for a nuanced risk assessment that captures the inherent uncertainties in agricultural investment. The findings indicate a significant economic advantage for organic farming, with an organic return on investment (ROI) of 12.03%, substantially outperforming the 3.99% ROI of conventional methods. Moreover, the research highlights the improved risk-adjusted returns of organic farming, showing an almost negligible probability of encountering a negative net present value (NPV), specifically P(NPV_organic ≤ 0) ≈ 0. The results underscore the financial viability and reduced risk of organic Yerba Mate cultivation, positioning it as a strategic alternative to traditional agricultural methods. These insights align w...

  • Objective: To explore the influence of NRAS-AS on the proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle, migration, and invasion ability of HCC cells, as well as its underlying mechanisms. Methods: A double-stranded cDNA library for liver cancer cells was constructed, and identified NRAS-AS through High-throughput sequencing, bioinformatics, chain-specific fluorescent quantitative PCR, and RACE. NRAS-AS′s effects on HepG2 and SMMC-7721 cells and gene expression were evaluated. Additionally, the study analyzed the influence of NRAS-AS overexpression on tumor formation in nude mice. Immunohistochemistry and Western blotting were used to detect NRAS protein levels in clinical samples. RT-qPCR examined NRAS-AS and NRAS gene expression in HCC and adjacent tissues. Results: NRAS-AS overexpression suppresses HCC cell proliferation and invasion, induces cell cycle alterations in HepG2 and SMMC-7721 cells, and enhances apoptosis. NRAS-AS interference promoted liver cancer invasion, inhibited apoptosis, and influences the cell cycle. Nude mice overexpressing NRAS-AS showed smaller tumors. NRAS-AS expression in liver cancer patients correlated with clinical factors. RT-qPCR revealed an inverse correlation between NRAS-AS and NRAS gene expression in liver cancer and adjacent tissues. IHC analysis revealed reduced NRAS protein expression in HepG2 and SMMC-7721 cells following NRAS-AS overexpression. The impact of AZA treatment on antisense NRAS-AS and sense NRAS gene expression in liver cancer cells w...
